From first U.S. customer
to eight-figure revenue.
The lessons behind ARONIA come from building businesses, earning customer trust, and changing direction when the market challenges your assumptions.
These are examples from Ville Houttu’s operating roles at Vincit USA and Privv. They describe the founder experience behind ARONIA.
From the first customer
to eight-figure U.S. revenue.
In 2016, I moved to California to build the U.S. business for Vincit, a publicly traded European software and design company. We had a strong European track record, but no U.S. customers, local reputation, or established go-to-market motion.
Earn the first reason to believe.
I landed our first customer, Logitech, then built the local positioning, credibility, team, and go-to-market. We won category-leading customers and completed three acquisitions to accelerate growth.
Revenue doubled each of the first four years, reaching eight figures within five years. The business grew to a team of more than 60 people and was named to the Inc. 5000 three consecutive years.
“Build credibility. Listen to the market. Invest behind what works.”

From an idea
to $1M ARR.

I co-founded Privv and built a SaaS project management platform for capital projects, helping building owners and owner’s representatives manage budgets, schedules, cash flow, and workflows.
Change the assumptions when the market does.
We identified the initial market, learned where the ICP was not working, and pivoted to a stronger segment. We built a repeatable sales motion around that focus.
That sales engine took Privv from zero to $1M ARR, with more than $4 billion in projects managed through the platform.
“When the market challenged the original assumptions, we changed the assumptions.”

Evidence before investment.
Focus before scale.
Every business is different. The operating discipline carries across: choose a clear starting point, get close to buyers, and use what you learn to decide the next move.
